Until Death Do I Part

The remnants of the previous hour
stretch out pink before me,
a medicine cabinet supply exhausted,
the end to my reality.
I resign myself the sticky wetness
on my face and hands,
no reason to clean the wretched mess
my life force draws to end.
A constant pounding at my door
reminds me why I’m here,
my last best friend has brought the police
and discovery is my only fear.
My useless form I drag to bed
as I try to hide,
no interruption to my death,
alone, I claim it mine.
Hallucinating I lie inert,
serenity I have found,
safe within deaths dark comfort,
willing to leave this time around.
With the morning sun I awoke,
rescued by my God.
I swore an oath on jellied knees,
then began to search my destiny.
